History

By the grace of God, and the vision of Pastor Henry Fingerlin, in February 1985, the congregation of Shepherd of the Hills Lutheran Church accepted the challenge to begin Shepherd of the Hills Christian School.  John Senechal was called as principal, and classes began on September 3, 1985, with an enrollment of 47 students in kindergarten through 6th grade.  By 1988, ten full-time professional staff people provided Christian Education for 146 students in all areas of basic grade school curriculum, including religious instruction and extra-curricular activities, for kindergarten through the 8th grade.

Shepherd of the Hills Preschool officially began classes in August 2001, with Sheri Stults as the director.  God has blessed this ministry beginning in one room with two teachers, three classes and 21 students in 2001, to five classrooms, 16 teachers, 16 combinations of classes and 108 students in 2008. Sally Wallace became the Preschool Director in 2010 and the program incorporated a full time toddler program for children 18 months old.

Since opening the doors in 1985 God has provided continual leadership.  John Senechal, Nancy Snurka, Jim Krupski, Dave Black, Herb Weisenfels, Meredith Arldt and the current Interim Principal, Lisa Jennings have provided guidance and leadership of the student body, families, faculty and staff.

God has blessed Shepherd of the Hills Christian School through its years of existence.  He has caused it to grow, thrive, adjust and offer an excellent education.  More importantly, it is one of the main ministries of Shepherd of the Hills congregation.  The message that Jesus Christ is Lord and Savior is shared each and every day and has touched the lives of hundreds of children and their families.  To God give the glory!
