Position: Third Grade Teacher and Music Coordinator
Education: BS in Elementary Education and Lutheran Teaching Diploma, Concordia University Nebraska; MA in Reading/Special Education, University of Nebraska Omaha; additional studies at University of Phoenix, Colorado School of Mines, University of Northern Colorado, University of San Diego, Grand Canyon University and others
Personal Information: My husband, Chet, and I have three grown children – two sons (both engineers) and one daughter (a real-life ballerina). All three are married, and we have five grandsons and one granddaughter.
Enjoys: Spending time with family, camping and hiking, gardening, sewing, reading and traveling
Fun Fact: I sang in Carnegie Hall with a Texas chorale when I lived in Texas. I am trying to carry on my grandmother’s and mother’s specialties of raising iris and quilting.
What I love about my position: Being able to teach children about God’s wonderful love for them is a great joy. Singing about Jesus is just as enjoyable. I love teaching, singing and playing music at Shepherd of the Hills because of the sense of family.
Bible Verse with special personal meaning: Philippians 2:7-11 and 4:4, “But [Jesus] made himself nothing, taking the form of a servant, being born in the likeness of men. And being found in human form, he humbled himself by becoming obedient to the point of death, even death on a cross. Therefore God has highly exalted him and bestowed on him the name that is above every name, so that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, in heaven and earth and under the earth, and every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father. Rejoice in the Lord, always, and again I say REJOICE.” Jesus showed such great love for me that He died a horrible death on a cross. But He was raised again to give me eternal life. This gives me so much JOY that I want to sing His praises and share His love with others. REJOICE!
